Our Intimate Mountain Wedding in Breckenridge

July 12, 2022

Our wedding in Breckenridge, Colorado was everything we could have hoped for. Surrounded by 15 of our closest family members and friends and our worlds (our three wonderful kids), we never felt more loved. As co-owners of Wonder in Adagio, we discovered a pure, once-in-a-lifetime kind of love that has only grown. Our wedding day felt like everything coming full circle, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Those of you who know us from our work in the Finger Lakes may be wondering what inspired us to head west for our wedding! The mountains have always held a special place in our hearts. And, they were a part of our love story from the beginning. In fact, Sara’s ring set features the outline of a mountain range. But Breckenridge has significance to us because Mark’s family spread his dad’s ashes there. Going back to say our vows felt like the right way to honor him and celebrate this new beginning.

Planning Our Wedding in Breckenridge

When we began planning, we had a vision: an intimate ceremony high up in the snowy mountains, followed by a candlelit dinner with all of our guests at a rented vacation home. We found a gorgeous chalet that was just the right size to accommodate us and our loved ones. So, we decided to make a family vacation out of it! Everyone arrived in advance of our wedding day, and it was amazing to spend those last days of anticipation with all of our favorite people.

It was somewhat more challenging to choose our vendors, having fallen in love while growing our own business. In the end, it was some of our closest friends who we entrusted with bringing our vision to life. Foote Florals designed the arrangements for our tablescape and Sara’s bouquet, while Sara’s good friend Melissa of The Beauty Designer did her hair and makeup. It was important to us to choose vendors with whom we felt a close kinship, and we couldn’t be happier with our choices.

In addition, we were fortunate to come across some amazing shops where we discovered the wedding apparel of our dreams. Sara’s All Who Wander ceremony gown was from Ever After Bridal in Endicott, while Lovely Bride Rochester supplied her stunning Rue de Seine gown for our adventure session. And, we can’t shout out One Custom Clothier enough! They worked with Mark to design a fully custom suit that fit his exact vision. The salmon color was so unique and coordinated perfectly with our florals.

A Magical Weekend in the Mountains

From start to finish, our wedding weekend felt like a beautiful dream full of love, tears, and laughter. Jay Worsley captured the entire thing on film, and we were so impressed by his eye for the little moments. Our ceremony took place at Sapphire Point, the tallest peak in Breckenridge, on a 45-degree day. Although it was cold, everyone snuggled under blankets and the outpouring of emotions was just magical. Everyone in attendance officiated, and we wouldn’t have had it any other way. Then, we all returned to the house for a customized dinner made by Chef Jennifer Ward of Harvest to Home. We were all amazed by the tablescape created by Foote Florals, featuring a gauze runner topped with a garland of pampas grass and roses. The candlelight and cafe lights above us filled the room with warmth, and it felt so special to be there with our loved ones.

On Saturday, we spent the day touring the mountains and the town of Breckenridge before everyone began to head home. Then, on Sunday, it was time for our adventure session with Tracy Jade Photography! We had the best time getting ready together and climbing to the top of the mountain with her team. We’re so glad that we opted to focus on our marriage and our loved ones on our wedding day so that we could give all of our attention and energy to our session on Sunday. These images will always be the sweetest reminder of the love we share, and we can’t thank Tracy enough.

Ever since we fell for each other, we’ve appreciated capturing love stories as the duo behind Wonder in Adagio even more. It would be our honor to document the wedding of your dreams in the Finger Lakes region! If you can envision yourself in our work, we would love to hear from you
