We have been looking forward to sharing Felicia and Dan’s summer wedding with you all! This wedding was full of excitement, elegant details, and so much love. After getting to know them during their engagement session, we knew that their wedding would be incredible.
The couple chose to get married at Boldt Castle, which Felicia has family ties to. This Castle was built in 1900 by Georgia Boldt as a tribute to the love he felt for his wife, Louise. It is the most romantic venue and is such a testament to this love story. Located in the Thousand Island Region of New York, it is only reachable by boat. This gives guests a unique and lavish experience and one they will never forget! When you arrive at Heart Island, you are greeted by the captivating historic Castle and picturesque gardens.
Ethereal Wedding Day Details
Felicia’s wedding day style was glamorous and made her look like a princess. Since she was getting married in a castle, she wanted her gown to have a fairytale feel. She chose a lace ball gown, covered in beading and with a cathedral train. Felicia had her soft waves braided, with fresh flowers added in throughout. Her Bella Belle shoes were the perfect accent. She chose the Rosa heel, which was covered in hand-beaded floral pieces and scattered with pearls.
Finally, she completed her enchanting look with a two-tiered veil with beaded trim. Her enchaining look was completed with a two-tiered veil with beaded trim, which was very meaningful to Felicia. The veil was her mother’s original veil and was one of her something borrowed pieces. We love when our couples bring in family heirlooms to wear on the wedding day. It adds a beautiful touch to their photos.
For the wedding, Felicia envisioned a color palette of soft blues, whites, and lots of ethereal touches. So, she chose a white and blue bouquet filled with garden roses, blue hydrangeas, and a touch of Shasta daisies. Her bridesmaids carried a single David Austin rose with a long ivory satin ribbon. It was beautiful against their dusty blue dresses. The men wore dark gray suits with white ties, while Dan wore a light gray suit.
Wedding Ceremony at Boldt Castle
Their ceremony took place at the Dove-Cote, which gives breaking views of the St. Lawrence River. As Felicia walked down the stone steps, guests were in awe. The two were so happy to say their vows in front of their family and friends. As Dan told us, one of his favorite things about Felicia is her excitement and love for life! She is thoughtful and cares so deeply for others. This is something we got to really see first hand. This couple is all about making everyone around them feel warm and welcome!
After their ceremony, we walked around the grounds of Boldt Castle for portraits, and Felicia told us stories of her childhood memories here. She would visit here with her family, and had so many spots that were special to her.
Boldt Castle has spectacular gardens with intimate spaces tucked around the five acres. We took pictures around the Italian Gardens, which not only has beautiful flowers but a river view. We walked around with the couple, letting them enjoy this time alone and soaking in the joy.
Evening Reception at RiverEdge Resort in Alexandria Bay
After portraits, we headed on a boat to their reception, which took place at RiverEdge Resort in Alexandria Bay. This resort is a short boat ride from Heart Island, and their ballroom overlooks the river, with a view of Boldt Castle. The soft blues and whites continued in the centerpieces. The table decorations were a romantic blend of hydrangeas, roses, and daisies in clear jars. Butterflies were placed on the champagne flutes, and each table was named after one of the local islands.
Their cake was one of the most incredible we have ever seen! The four-tier cake was amazing with white buttercream and hand-piped flowers cascading down the side, in shades of blue, blush, and white. The couple danced the night away and enjoyed this time together as newlyweds.
We also got to take pictures on a yacht, thanks to a friendly gentleman staying at the resort! He offered up his yacht for some bride and groom portraits, and it was the perfect ending to the night! Thank you, Felicia and Dan, for letting us document your perfect day!
