A Barn Wedding in the Fall at Akron Acres
It was our last wedding of the 2019 season, and we have been so excited about Haleigh & Jake’s wedding since the first phone call we had at the end of last year. She was so excited about being engaged to her best friend, and KNEW that she wanted to surprise everyone at the ceremony by riding in on her horse.
Haleigh owns and manages a horse farm, Amblefoot Farms. She does riding lessons, shows, and much more. Her fiance Jake owns his own taxidermy business and together they have already begun building a beautiful life together for the past 5 years. We braved the rain for their engagement session all over their property and had so much fun laughing, joking, and dancing. We were stoked to be able to be their media team.
It was a brisk fall day, but the sun was shining when we got to Akron Acres on their wedding day. The girls were getting ready in a cute little barn by the venue, and Jake was arriving with her horse Kodak, to make sure he was stowed away in the barn hidden from guests when they arrived.
We absolutely love when our couples and their family take a-lot of time and talent to put together decor and favors that are handcrafted by them. Each piece that was present at the reception was made by Haleigh’s mom, full of pictures of the couple throughout the journey of their relationship. Haleigh’s dad drove over a truck he spent 9 years restoring and was so excited that we were taking pictures with it.
Even more touches with Haleigh’s bouquet, and she wore the same pearls that her mom and grandmother wore on their wedding day. It was a generational hand me down and looked amazing with Haleigh’s stunning yet simple a-line lacy dress.
She was able to keep the surprise as her and Kodak raced across the field, her white veil blowing in the breeze to a Shania Twain song. (Mark got this on the drone so be sure to watch that teaser trailer!) She dismounted Kodak as her Dad walked her down the aisle, everyone standing with big smiles on their face in love with the way the bride had entered. After their first kiss they released pigeons and it was a great way to not only capture the ceremony but the love that they both have for horses and birds.
Haleigh + Jake, thank you so much for choosing us to be there on your wedding day. We have enjoyed getting to know you both over the last year, and capturing a part of your love story and legacy. We can’t wait to see you over the years as your family and farm grows. You both inspire us to continue to follow our dreams and goals as an entrepreneur as we watch you do the same every day. You’re amazing!
