Rustic Barn Wedding, Finger Lakes, NY
It was a warm, sunny June day when Sara first met Kate at a softball game in Penn Yan. They clicked quickly over the course of the game that consisted of too many line drives, a few tears from the mound (by Sara), and a kick ass slide from Kate. It was only a week later that Dave would propose to her at Letchworth State Park. She came to the next game with her shiny new ring, and the talk of their wedding day began.
We ventured back to the place that Dave proposed in the midst of a blizzard in January. All 4 of us endured heavy snow, crappy roads, deer, and blistering cold winds that didn’t feel that great on Dave’s bald head, lol. It was there that we knew that we were going to have so much fun with their friends and family on their big day.
October 12th finally came and there was a chance of rain on the forecast, but we knew it would hold out for them to have their ceremony outside. Both Kate and Dave were calm with anticipation for the moment he would see her walking down the aisle. We were in such awe of the way they made each other laugh, and the way he looked at her throughout the day. One of Sara’s favorite moments was when she setting Kate up in a nearby field to do a bridal portrait, the sun peeking through the clouds, a slight wind taking Kate’s veil in a light breeze, and Sara turned around to grab her camera and saw Dave just staring in awe of his new wife.
We’ve never laughed so much with a bridal party that had a bathroom break in the field amidst pictures (just the guys, evidence below), the bride and groom promising a messy cake cutting, and the most amazing group of friends that stood next to them on their wedding day. They have all been in each others wedding, attended Bills games together, and were ready to celebrate the new couple. One of the more sweeter moments were in the way Kate had become the best step mom to Dave’s daughter, Katie. She was with Kate as she got ready, with her dad walking down the aisle, and all 3 shared a dance in the evening. It was touching to see how they embraced each other and how close they were as a family of 3.
Kate & Dave, thank you so much for choosing us to be apart of your wedding day. We have loved getting to know you both, your love story, and your family more. We felt like we were apart of your family for these past months, and your wedding day was no exception. The love you have for each other is beyond inspiring and we cannot WAIT to see you more over the years. (Which hopefully means a vow renewal in Montana! Your honeymoon was GORGEOUS!)
